Ten terrific Kareena Kapoors

Wow. It's been nine years since Kareena Kapoor made her Bollywood debut, and it seems like so much longer.

The Kapoor family superstar turns 29 on September 21, and before we all wish her a very happy birthday, here's a look at ten distinct Kareena looks:

Refugee

All eyes were on Kareena when she made her debut in JP Dutta's Refugee opposite Abhishek Bachchan. Her look was stark and simple, yet she looked completely captivating.

Asoka

Kareena turned up the exotica with some wonderfully inspired eye makeup as she played Kaurvaki to Shah Rukh Khan's Asoka in Santosh Sivan's visually magnificent Asoka. She looked tough, fiery and utterly breathtaking.

Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham

Kapoor dropped the simplicity and embraced the glam in Karan Johar's magnum opus, borrowing mannerisms from Alicia Silverstone's Clueless character to create her own valley girl, Poo.

Chameli

It was a hard task to imagine Kareena the diva playing a gaudy streetwalker, but both she and director Sudhir Mishra were more than up to the task -- and the result is one of Kareena's most compelling looks.

Fida

Ken Ghosh's film might not be one of Kareena's most memorable, but it does stand out as her first real 'babe' look -- especially as she played the seductive femme fatale.

Omkara

Kapoor dialled down the glamour yet again to look her absolute prettiest in Vishal Bhardwaj's Othello adaptation. Her skin looked luminous, sparkling simply in contrast with dirty men and a dirtier world around her -- a perfect Desdemona.

Don

Farhan Akhtar's Don saw Kareena take on something truly daring, stepping into the most iconic item-girl shoes of all time. As Kamini she danced to a song Helen made unforgettable, and while she wasn't one-tenth as good as the original, it was surely a pretty interesting look.

Jab We Met

Imtiaz Ali's road film saw Kareena in one of her most endearing roles to date, and her look -- that of interesting t-shirt teamed up with patiala salwars -- typified the big-city college girl slumming it out on the train.

Tashan

Ah yes, the bikini. Kareena starved and slaved to get herself into the ideal shape to wear a teensy-weensy bikini in this one, and while her posterior still looked great, the rest of her seemed to have taken the 'size zero' thing a bit too far.

Kambakkht Ishq

In her most recent release, Kareena seemed to find a rather sexy middle-ground between size-zero and oomph, and Akshay Kumar looked quite lucky as he ogled Kapoor, playing a supermodel/surgeon. With legs like that, she could cut us up anytime.
