While we all look back and fondly remember our favourite teachers this Teacher's Day, wishing them well and recounting our favourite memories of them, we decided to take a look at some of the popular teachers that we have seen onscreen so far.

Kareena plays the breathtakingly beautifully Avantika Ahuja, a Psychology professor in New York who irrevocably falls in love with Ehsaan, a terrorist.
But the seemingly fragile Avantika decides to do what's right once she comes to know of her lover's true identity, showing great courage and unflinching ideals.
Aamir Khan in Taare Zameen Par
Aamir's heartwarming directorial debut Taare Zameen Par saw him play the empathetic teacher Ram Shankar Nikumbh who encourages Ishaan to pursue what he loves the most.
While we see the adorable Ishaan come out of his shell and be truly happy with who he is, we can't help beaming. It's the power of the teacher.
Boman Irani in Munnabhai MBBS
Dr Asthana could have been an ordinary tyrannical character in Munnabhai MBBS but for Boman Irani.
The talented actor put the right spin on it and voila! The hilarious Dr Asthana became one of the most popular things about the film.
The oddball does everything to make himself the most hated person on the college campus but we end up loving him as the ever-anxious dad, the authoritarian head of an institution and his digs.
Esha Deol in Yuva
There was something about Esha in Yuva. The actress was striking in the film as the spunky and free-spirited Radhika who's a teacher.
We love her even more when she falls for Michael's (Ajay Devgn) idealism and ambition.
Sushmita Sen in Main Hoon Na
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Shabd
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan took the bombshell route with this film. The film may have tanked but images of Ash with that nose-ring, wearing halter-neck blouses and sheer saris has stayed with fans. Playing a fashion teacher, Ash certainly looked very fashionable.
Shah Rukh Khan in Mohabbatein
With love on his side, the music teacher takes on the might of the head of the institution -- Narayan Shankar (Amitabh Bachchan) -- and succeeds in the end.
Naseeruddin Shah in Sir
Professor Amar Verma lives in a restive, gangwar-ridden Mumbai and has even lost his only son because of it. But instead of turning cynical or vengeful, he tries to set things right so that peace can prevail.
It's especially endearing to see him bond with his students and how popular he is among them. A memorable film from the Bhatt camp.
Simi Garewal in Mera Naam Joker
She knows of Raju's feelings and tells him off gently.
Amitabh Bachchan in Chupke Chupke
Amitabh Bachchan played the slightly goofy and genial Sukumar Sinha who's an English professor and is coaxed into posing as Parimal Tripathi (Dharmendra), his longtime friend who's trying to pull a fast one on his in-laws.
Sukumar obliges reluctantly but gets in trouble when he meets the girl of his dreams. Amitabh's comic timing is great in the film.
