Based on extensive research and recorded earnings between September 2011 to October 2012, Shah Rukh came out on top with a staggering Rs 202.8 crore in earnings.
While the Forbes issue is set to hit stands on Febraury 8, here's a look at the top 10 Indian earners.
Salman Khan, whose last film Dabangg 2 crossed the Rs 100 crore mark effortlessly, has been placed at number two.
The actor made Rs 144.2 crore in earnings.
Indian cricketer and team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, made a whopping Rs 135.16 crore between September 2011 and October 2012.
Both Dhoni and Salman were ahead of SRK in terms of popularity.
Amitabh Bachchan rounds off the top five with Rs 116.3 crore in earnings.
Cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar takes up the sixth spot with Rs 97.8 crore in annual income.
In terms of endorsement deals, Tendulkar figures at number three and trails SRK who tops the list and Dhoni, at number two.
The first female celebrity to make it to the list, Kareena Kapoor made Rs 73.5 crore in the given period of time.
Malaika Arora Khan was named the top earner in television while the said honour among musicians goes to A R Rahman.
Indan cricket team's fiery opening batsman Virender Sehwag figures at number eight.
Indian cricket's current pin-up Virat Kohli takes up the ninth spot.
Saina Nehwal, at 23, is the youngest celebrity to figure on the 100 list.
Katrina Kaif's had a good year too, and rounds off the top 10 list.
Other celebrities to break in to top 50 are tennis star Sania Mirza and actress Anushka Sharma.
Karan Johar is the richest filmmaker while authro Chetan Bhagat tops the authors' list.
