It's a casting coup as superstar Mammootty and the flavour of the times, Fahadh Faasil, team up for Lal Jose's Emmanuel. As the vacation season begins, the director believes that "this is a simple but genuinely attractive story that will attract the family audience."
Mammootty plays Emmanuel, a devoted husband and father. He worked in a publishing house for several years but lost his job. This turns out to be a crisis that the family finds difficult to face.
He then joins another institution and realises that the world around him has changed so much.
Fahadh Faasil plays Jeevan Raj, a manager there.
Debutante Reenu Mathews plays Mammootty's wife. Mukesh, Salim Kumar, Sukumari, Aparna Nair and Sunil Sugatha are others in the cast.
Mammootty had played the lead in Lal Jose's maiden film, Oru Maravathoor Kanavu. Later the duo teamed up for Pattalam and also in the short film Puramkazhchakal from Kerala Cafe.
Fahadh Faasil made his debut with Mammootty playing a guest role in Kaiyethum Doorathu. Last year, Fahadh and Lal Jose together made Diamond Necklace.
Emmanuel has been produced by S George. Vijeesh A C has written the script. Pradeep Nair wields the camera and Afzal Yusuf is the music director.
Sound Thoma
Actor Dileep is known to experiment with his characters and looks in films, some of his previous experiments being the hunchback in Kunjikkoonan, an effeminate guy in Chanthupottu, a mentally challenged youth in Pachakkuthira and even a woman in Mayamohini.
Now, he comes with a cleft lip and curved nose in director Vysakh's Sound Thoma.
"Thoma (Dileep) is the son of a wealthy but miserly businessman named Palapparambil Poulo (Sai Kumar). Thoma has a speech defect but that has not affected his confidence in any way and in fact he is in love with a radio jockey named Sree Lakshmi (Namitha Pramod)," says Vysakh, director of Pokkiri Raja, Seniors and Mallu Singh.
Dileep has also sung a song and danced in the popular 'Gangnam style'.
"It has not been easy doing this role with make-up and I hope that Thoma's antics click with the viewers," says the hero.
Namitha Pramod, who has acted in a few films as a child artiste, made her debut as a heroine in Puthiya Theerangal.
Sound Thoma, produced by Dileep's brother Anup under the banner of Priyanjali, has been scripted by Benny P Nayarambalam.
Shaji wields the camera and the music director is Gopi Sundar.
Both Emmanuel and Sound Thoma release today, April 5.
