Radhika Rajamani in Hyderabad
The Telugu film industry is always on the hunt for new and beautiful female faces who can act as well. Here's looking at the top five of the year.
Priyamani in Saadhyam, Raavanan, Rakta Charitra2, Golimaar
She is a powerhouse of talent, an actor to reckon with with a National Award under her belt.
This year she got to work with two acclaimed directors -- Mani Rathnam (Raavanan) and Ram Gopal Varma (Rakta Charitram 2). Both these films were dubbed in Telugu.
Priyamani also acted in a Puri Jagannath film Golimaar with Gopichand for the first time. As Pavitra, she was brilliant and livened up the proceedings. Since she's is equally conversant in all the four South Indian languages, she is comfortable in dubbing in them too.
Priyamani will be seen with Nagarjuna in Ragada which is slated for release in the last week of December.
Anushka in Vedam, Panchakshari, Mahesh Khaleja
Image: Anushka in VedamAnushka played a prostitute in Vedam. As Saroja in Vedam, she brought a sense of vulnerability to the role. She was neither too loud nor over the top. In fact, she was just perfect in depicting Saroja.
In Panchakshari she plays a double role -- a modern girl and a 'goddess' with flair though the roles are nowhere near Arundhati.
In Mahesh Khaleja the scenes between her and Mahesh in the first half are lively. She ups the glamour quotient of the film with her choice of clothes.
In Thakita Thakita she appears as herself in a cameo. Anushka's film Ragada with Nagarjuna is likely to release by the end of December.
Kajal Agarwal in Darling, Brindavanam
Image: A scene from DarlingIt's hard to repeat a spectacular Magadheera but films like that come once in a lifetime. Kajal has been very much around this year and had two releases Darling and Brindavanam.
She was chirpy as Nandini romancing Prabhas in the picturesque Swiss locales wearing glamorous outfits.
In Brindavanam she plays a bimbo very well. Perhaps acting with NTR in Brindavanam must have been an attractive factor.Samantha Ruth Prabhu in Ye Maaya Chesaave, Brindavanam
Image: Samantha in Ye Maaya ChesaaveAs Jessie in Ye Maaya Chesaave (YMC), Samantha took Telugu tinsel town by storm.
With her subtle expressions and nuances, Samantha was brilliant in portraying Jessie, a character conceptualised and written well by Gautham Vasudev Menon. She received accolades from both critics and the public for her acting skills.
YMC fetched her Brindavanam with NTR Jr. Here it was more of revving up the oomph factor rather than acting as the role was hardly a patch compared to Jessie's in YMC.
Anyway she's got to act with none other than the Prince of Telugu cinema, Mahesh Babu in Dookudu directed by Srinu Vytla currently being shot.
Padmapriya in Andhari Banduvayya
Image: A scene from Andhari BanduvayyaShe is another hatke actress who does different kinds of roles.
Padmapriya re-entered Telugu industry after a gap with Andhari Banduvayya. She essays the role of a girl who is tight fisted as she has to look after her mother and two sisters.
Padmapriya complemented Sharwanand's performance and their chemistry showed on screen.
