Looking forward to Orissa, ASK and Vallatha Pahayan?

Three Malayalam films -- M Padmakumar's Orissa, Rajesh K Abraham's ASK or Aaru Sundarimaarude Kadha and 'Marimayam' team's Vallatha Pahayan -- will hit the screens this weekend. We take a look:

Orissa
Director: M Padmakumar
Cast: Unni Mukundan, Sanika, Kaniha

Director M Padmakumar's Orissa is based on true events.

The film has Unni Mukundan playing a cop named Christu Das, who has been entrusted to give protection to a young Oriya girl, from being drawn into flesh trade.

Produced under the banner of Heera Films, Orissa has camera by Vinod Illampilly and music by Ratheesh Vegha. G S Anil has scripted the film.

Sanika Nambiar, who shot into fame as a child artiste in Olympian Anthony Adam, is the heroine named Suneyi. Kaniha plays her elder sister, who was forced to become a Devadasi by society.

Aaru Sundarimaarude Kadha

Cast: Nadia Moidu, Narain, Paratap Pothen, Zareena Wahab

Produced by A V Anoop and directed by debutant Rajesh K Abraham, ASK or Aaru Sundarimaarude Kadha links the lives of a few women.

Nadia Moidu plays a woman, who wanted to be a basket ball player in her younger days but could not become one due to familial pressures. Now she supports her daughter, a tennis player, played by Umang Jain.

Zareena Wahab plays Nadia's mother. The cast also includes Lena, Shamna Kasim and Lakshmi Rai.

The camera is by Sameer Haq and music is by Deepak Dev.

Vallatha Pahayan

Cast: Manikandan, Rachana

The cast of the popular television comedy Marimayam teams up for Niyas-Razack's Vallatha Pahayan.

The film is about an ordinary man, who strives hard to scale new heights in life. Marimayam handles social issues in a humorous way and Vallatha Pahayan takes a similar route.

Produced under the banner of Galaxy Films by Milan Jaleel, the film has cinematography by Utpal V Nayanar. The music director is Bijibal.
