Bbuddha Terra Hoga Baap director Puri Jagannadh made Idiot (a Telugu remake of his own Kannada film Appu) with Ravi Teja and Rakshita way back in 2002. It was a huge hit and catapulted both into the big league in the Telugu film industry.
The Puri-Teja combo had another blockbuster in Amma Naana O Tamil Ammayi the same year. But they lost their magic touch in Neninthe in 2008.
Now, Puri Jagan is thinking of making a sequel to Idiot -- with Ravi Teja of course. Shooting is expected to start next year which means Idiot 2 will see the light of day a decade after Idiot.
Karthi dubs in Telugu
Image: Karthi with DiyaMany Tamil films dubbed in Telugu, particularly those made by the brothers Suriya and Karthi Sivakumar, are finding favour with Andhra audiences and are doing well at the box office. Some examples: Ghajini, Suriya S/o Krishnan, Yuganiki Okkadu, and Awara.
Karthi finds a reason for this: "People here are not critics, they love cinema, they enjoy it. So long as the film is entertaining, they will appreciate any kind of film. The audience is open to any kind of cinema. I would give it completely to the people."
He has plans to do Telugu films too. "There are talks on to do some bi-linguals. I take care in selecting a script."
Karthi in fact is learning Telugu and has dubbed for Awara and the forthcoming release Naa Peru Siva. "I love this language. I would have taken more time to learn any other language, but I like it so it has been pretty fast," he says.
Way to go Karthi!
Rangam weaving magic

This K V Anand directed movie, with Jiiva and Karthika, has really propelled Jiiva to the top league in Tamil films. Quite a few Telugu heroes seem to be showing interest in working with K V Anand, while Jiiva wants to work in Telugu films.
