Prabhu Deva's next Tamil film Engeyum Kathal, a rom-com starring Jayam Ravi and Hansika Motwani is almost ready. It's interesting to see Jayam Ravi not in a remake.
The film is shot by Dhoom 2 cinematographer Nirav Shah and music is by Harris Jayaraj. The music, released recently, is a huge hit.
After wowing the Tamil audience with Subramaniapuram, director Sasikumar is ready with his next film Eesan.
If his first film was a Madurai-based rural film, Easan is a Chennai-based urban film. It will be interesting to see how Sasikumar will fare outside his comfort zone.
His friend and well known director Samuthirakani plays an important role of a police officer in the film while the rest of the cast comprises of new faces.
After proving his mettle alongside veteran actors like Kamal Haasan and Mohanlal in Unnai Pol Oruvan, Ganesh Venkataraman went on to act in Major Ravi's yet to be released Kandahar with Amitabh Bachchan and Mohanlal.
He now plays the lead in a romantic love story titled Pani Thuli. It is a bilingual in Tamil and Hindi to be shot in India and in San Francisco, Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
The film also introduces two new heroines to Tamil cinema -- Shobhana and Kalpana Pandit.
Ganesh said, "A lot of people have suggested to me that I make a good romantic hero on screen, but I was waiting for the right script. When this story came along, it struck a chord in my heart and I felt I have to do this film. I am also enjoying the company of two beautiful women while shooting in the breathtaking locales around USA."
Pani Thuli is being produced by Dreams on Frames, a US-based production company and co-produced by House of Pandit. It is directed by Natty Kumar and Dr Jay. Cinematography is by Hollywood-based Chris Eldridge.
Shooting is currently underway in San Francisco.
A R Rahman's music for Gowtham Vasudev Menon's Vinnai Thandi Varuvaya is a special album. Even today, Hosanna and Aaromale are sung and heard everywhere.
To commemorate the timelessness of its music, Sony music released a collector's edition last week. Gautham Vasudev Menon and singers Blaaze, Karthik, Naresh Iyer and Chinmayi were present on the occasion.
The Collector's album has two of Rahman's unreleased tracks, and Aaromale by Shreya Ghosal. The original Aaromale was made memorable by Alphons.
Of the Diwali releases, the hugely expected film was Prabhu Solomon's Mynaa. And it did not disappoint either the critics or the audience.
One person who saw the film much before the release was Kamal Haasan and he "had a good night's sleep" after watching it, saying that he is happy that good films are still being made.
Rajnikanth also watched the film, but much later. The Superstar was quite magnanimous in his praise. He wrote a letter to the director regretting that he was not part of Mynaa.
What more can Prabhu Solomon want? He is in seventh heaven after receiving the letter!
