Director Suseendran is known for Tamil films like Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu and Azhagar Samiyin Kuthirai. His latest film, Rajapattai, he admits, is "an out and out commercial mass entertainer."
Suseendran has so far used lesser-known or unknown actors but this time, he gets to direct Vikram, a hero with commercial clout, who has also won a National Award.
Vikram plays a gym instructor who dreams of becoming a villain in films.
The plot is not only about Vikram's dreams but also about land grabbing by a mafia. When an old man (played by well known director K Viswanath) gets harassed by land sharks, he approaches Vikram to solve his problem.
The story of how the aspiring villain solves the problem is told in an entertaining way under the direction of Suseendran.
Deeksha Seth provides eye candy, and Shriya Saran and Reema Sen appear in a song shot abroad.
Pradeep Rawat of Ghajini fame plays the villain.
Yuvan Shankar Raja scores the music.
Rajapattai releases on December 23.
