Last year music played a big part in Kannada cinema. Here are the ones that stand out.
Parichaya
Music Director: Jassie Gift
This was a case of extraordinary music in a badly directed film.
While talented music director Jassie Gift showed his brilliance in the music composition, the film's director Sanjay failed to present a credible story.
Nadedaaduva Kaamanabille, Kudinotave Manamohaka and Jigi Jigi Jigidhu were not only amazingly composed and picturised but the songs also had some wonderful lyrics by Jayanth and Kaviraj.
Manasaare

Mano Murthy made a strong comeback with Manasaare. Ello Maleyagidhe Endhu, Naa Naguva Modhalene and Kanna Haniyondhige were the top songs from the film.
They were also beautifully picturised by Sathya Hegde. The meaningful lyrics of Jayanth Kaikini and Yogaraj Bhat added to the quality of the album.
Raaj, The Showman

Another musical hit in a film that was a damp squib at the box office was Raaj, The Showman.
Hey Paro rendered by Tippu and shot in South Africa became so popular that it can easily be labelled as the song of the year.
Muththuraja Kaalitta Saidu Bidolo, Poli Ivanu and Kuch Kuch were also huge hits.
Ambari

Ambari's success is mainly due to the quality of the songs. Music director Hari Krishna continued his musical supremacy started in 2008 with Gaja.
Yaare Nee Devatheyo, Akashadhindha and Baare Baare were the major hits of this album.
Love Guru

Though the film was only a decent hit, the audio album was top class.
Yaaru Kooda Ninna Haage rendered by Karhick and Benny, and Thangaali Tandeya by Benny were the most popular songs from the album.
