Music has been an integral part of all of Gowtham Vasudev Menon's films, and Harris Jayaraj has done some amazing work in all the films. But before the release of Gowtham's last film Vaaranam Aayiram, Harris Jayaraj dropped a bombshell that they had decided to split. It was sad news for all those who loved the scintillating music the combination had produced.

After Harris Jayaraj left, Gowtham got none other than A R Rahman to compose music for his next two films -- Chennayil Oru Mazhakalam (A rainy season in Chennai) and Vinnai Thandi Varavaya (Will you leap the skies and come to me?).

The latter, a love story with Silambarasan and Trisha (who has already signed a Hindi film with Priyadarshan opposite Akshay Kumar) in the lead is one of the most awaited, like all of Gowtham's films.

In his last interview to rediff.com, Gowtham had spoken about how he got Rahman to compose the tunes of Chennayil Oru Mazhakalam and Vinnai Thandi Varavaya.

"I don't know how he agreed. I narrated the idea to him, and he agreed. Perhaps he liked the ideas. I am a big fan of Rahman and I have a collection of all his albums. I always wanted to work with him. He has already composed for both my films."

When Rahman agreed to do Gowtham's films, he had not won the Oscars. Gowtham now has an Oscar winner composing music for his films.

The director says that there are five song situations in Vinnai Thandi Varavaya, and Rahman has already composed three songs. Gowtham has shot two songs extensively in some virgin locations in Malta.

The song Hosanaa penned by Thamarai is sung by Vijay Prakash of Jai Ho. Then there is a rap by Blaze which is expected to be a sure hit among the young crowd for its peppy beat and stunning visuals shot by Manoj Paramahamsa in Malta. The song was stylishly choreographed by Flexy Stu of Adiye Kolluthey fame.

Omana Penne, again written by Thamarai, is sung by A R Rahman himself. This song too has been shot in Malta with choreography by Flexy Stu.

The film with an urban look has been shot extensively in Chennai, Kerala and Malta.

In such locations, the love story with the two young actors -- Silambarasan and Trisha in the lead -- is sure to look good. Gowtham chose Silambarasan as he felt a young actor like Simbu would be apt for the kind of love story that he was making. Silambarasan is young, a good actor and a dancer too and was ready to experiment.

According to Menon, both Simbu and Trisha look great on screen.
