National award winning director Priyanandanan is ready with his next Malayalam film, Bhaktajanangalude Sradhakku, starring Kavya Madhavan and Irshad.

The story is written by writer-director Ranjith and the shooting took place in Kannur, Kerala.

Priyanandanan has made well-appreciated films like Neythukaran, Pulijanmam and Sufi Paranja Katha. Pulijanmam bagged the National award for the Best Feature Film in 2006 and Murali won the National Award for Best Actor for his performance in Neythukaran.

Kavya Madhavan plays Sumangala, who is married to a government employee named Viswanathan (Irshad).

Viswanathan is committed to his family, which includes their two kids and his mother. Things go horribly wrong when he becomes an alcoholic.

Fed up of her husband's incorrigible ways, Sumangala is forced to take some drastic steps and that forms the turning point in the film.

Kavya Madhavan, who was recently seen in Christian Brothers and China Town, appears in two avatars -- a suffering wife and an empowered woman. According to reports, the film is a satirical take on certain religious practices.

Irshad has been seen in offbeat roles so far and Bhaktajanangalude Sradhakku is expected to break the mould for him. Other cast members include Kalabhavan Mani, Jagadeesh, Salim Kumar, Suraj Venjarammoodu, Geetha Vijayan and Vanitha.

Bhaktajanangalude Sradhakku is produced by Jahangir Shams and B Manoj has written the screenplay and the dialogues. The music is by Natesh Sankar.

The movie is expected to hit the theatres soon.
