Director Priyadarshan and actor Mohanlal have shared a warm friendship from their school and college days. They have made some very memorable films together such as Boeing Boeing, Mazha Peyyunnu Maddalam Kottunnu, Thalavattam, Vellanakalude Naadu, Chithram, Kilukkam, Thenmavin Kombath, Kalapani and Kilichundan Mambazham, among others.
Now the two are coming together once again in Arabiyum Ottakavum P Madhavan Nairum In Oru Maruboomikkadha. The film will release this Friday.
The shooting of the film was done at various locations, including Dubai and Thiruvananthapuram.
It is a laugh riot that narrates man's quest for money.
Other than Mohanlal, the cast includes Mukesh, Lakshmi Rai and Bhavana. Alagappan has wielded the camera and the music director is M G Sreekumar.
Says Mohanlal: "It is a delight to work with Priyadarshan as we share a great rapport off the screen as well. We have grown up together and often we don't even need to talk to convey the things between us. I am also doing a Hindi film titled Tezz, directed by him, in which I play a cop."
According to Mukesh, who has done some memorable comedy films with Mohanlal, "The film has a humorous plot and we thoroughly enjoyed shooting for the film. It is a cool atmosphere on the sets with Priyadarsan and we have been friends for several years now."
For Bhavana, "It is a once in a lifetime experience working with all these big names. Of course I have worked with Mohanlal and Mukesh before. I had never worked with Priyadarsan before and there was some tension for me at the beginning. But he was very cordial and I enjoyed shooting for the film."
The film was originally titled Arabiyum Ottakavum P Madhavan Nairum (Arab, Camel and P Madhavan Nair) and the addition (In Oru Maruboomikkadha--A desert tale) was added after certain groups raised objections to the word Arab.
Seven Arts is distributing the film.
