Nagarjuna in a film based on Adi Sankara

Akkineni Nagarjuna is looking at diverse roles to portray. After doing films such as Rajanna and Shirdi Sai, Nag will be seen in a film made about Adi Sankara, the philosopher, titled Sri Jagadhguru Aadhi Shankara. Writer J K Bharavi directs the film.

Nag will play Chandala. Sankara's meeting with Chandala is an important episode in the philosopher's life.

The scenes between Nagarjuna and Koushik, who plays Sankara, were directed by well-known director K Raghavendra Rao.

S Gopal is the cinematographer for those scenes.

Others in the cast of this Telugu film, being made on a big scale, include Mohan Babu, Srihari, Saikumar, Indian Idol Srirama Chandra, Kamalinee Mukherjee, Kamna Jetmalini, Meena, Roja, Posani, and Thanikella Bharani.

Chiranjeevi is said to be lending his voice for the film.

Shruti Haasan pledges support for a cause

Actor Shruti Haasan has been associated with various social causes. She has now pledged her support to the Earth Hour Campaign of the World Wide Fund for Nature-India.

This global campaign of WWF creates awareness about climate change, a foremost environmental issue today. 

The message this year is to make individuals and organisations switch to renewable energy.

"It is an honour to be associated with such an inspiring and meaningful cause like the Earth Hour," said Shruti. "If we aspire for a clean and healthy environment, and for cities that develop sustainably, then we should be aware of our part as well and be willing to change our own behaviour. Imagine the difference that it will make when all of us get together."

T Rajendar is back with a Telugu film

T Rajendar's movies in Tamil and Telugu were popular in the 1980s and quite a few of them were successful at the box office.

After a long gap, Rajendar, the father of Tamil actor Simbu, will be producing, directing and acting in a Telugu film called Premadasu.

The film features newcomer Niharika. Rajendar plans to begin shooting the film from March 18.

Some of the others in the cast are AVS, Nagineedu, Seetha Narayanan and Suman Shetty.
