Get your low down on what's happening in the world of Kannada cinema, right here.

The big news doing the rounds in the Kannada film industry is famed director Nagabharana's son Panaga's directorial debut called Maduve Impossible. Panaga has assisted his father in several films before and has also done theatre.

Rumour has it that he has plans to approach none other than Shivarajkumar for the project. The actor is, however, currently busy with Jogaiah, Operation Diamond and Lakshmi among others.

Yograj Bhat signs up Diganth in next

Lifeu Ishtene, the second home production of filmmaker Yograj Bhat, went on the floors this week. Pavan, who has assisted Bhat in Pancharangi and Manasaare, is the director.

Bhatt's blue-eyed boy Diganth plays the lead actor while actress Sudha Belawadi's (a regular in the Bhat camp) daughter Samyukta will make her debut. Sindhu Loknath, who has acted in Telugu and Tamil films, is also part of the lead cast.

The film takes place in an urban setup and is about romantic break-ups and make-ups. Pavan claims the love story is closer to reality.

Did Yograj Bhat ever interfere in the project in the scripting stage? "He just gave his feedback after I read out the first draft, that's it," Pavan says.

Bhat has penned two songs for the film, along with Jayanth Kaikini.

For one of the songs, Yarige helona nam problem, the makers plan to choreograph unique dance styles.

The title Lifeu Ishtene is borrowed from a hugely popular song in Bhat's previous directorial Pancharangi.

The movie is set for an August-September release.

Vijay is a busy actor these days. Director Ravi Srivatsa, whose last venture was Deadly 2, will be working with the actor in his next film. Titled Om Shivaham, it is being produced by Manju. The film will be a family entertainer laced with action.

Next up is Bheemateerada Hudugaru. The story centres on a criminal, Chandappa, and his gang of boys. A host of newcomers have been cast alongside Vijay. Om Prakash Rao is directing the film. Rao had teamed up with Vijay for a film earlier but that failed to take off.

Vijay's Jhonny Mera Naam Preethi Mera Kaam is up for release. He is currently shooting for Jarasandha, where he'll be seen sporting six packs again after Shankar IPS.
