Writer-director Blessy's Pranayam will hit the theatres on August 31. The music launch of the film, which stars Mohanlal, Anupam Kher and Jayaprada in the lead roles, was held on August 9 in Kochi.
According to Blessy, "Pranayam (Love) is not just about relations between a man and a woman. It is an eternal truth which can only be experienced, an emotion that takes you to the zenith."
The music launch was attended by the film's cast and also by the music director, M Jayachandran. The lyrics have been penned by poet ONV Kurup.Addressing the media before the function Blessy said that "the basic idea of Pranayam was in my mind right from my college days.
Mohanlal is Prof Mathews, while Anupam Kher is Achutha Menon and Jayaprada is Grace. It is not a love triangle, but it does narrate the relationship between a woman and two men. It is about a feeling that attains more meaning as we think more about it."
Blessy has directed Kazhcha, Thanmathra, Palunku, Calcutta News and Bhramaram.
Mohanlal, who released the music album, says that it was a wonderful experience working in the film. One of the highlights of the film could be his old look, different from his earlier roles.
There was talk that Pranayam could be his 300th film, but actually it is the forthcoming Sathyan Anthikkad that will take him to that milestone.
In Blessy's Thanmatra, Mohanalal had essayed the role of a man in his forties suffering from Alzheimer's disease. His fantastic performance almost fetched him another National Award. It was reported that he lost out in the last leg.
The beautiful Jayaprada, who has acted in a few Malayalam movies earlier, was all excited about the songs in the movie, which she thought were just amazing. "We had a great time shooting for the film and it was wonderful working with such huge talents as Mohanlal and Anupam Kher," she said.
Pranayam is being produced by Sajeev and Anne Sajeev under the banner of Fragrant Nature.
The cast also includes Anoop Menon, Aaryan, Niveda, Dhanya Mary and Navya Natarajan. The cinematographer is Satheesh Kurup.
