Get your low down on what's happening in the world of Malayalam cinema, right here!

Veteran director Fazil is in the process of narrating a musical love story, with his latest film, Living Together.

The shooting of the film, with two fresh faces -- Hemanth and Sreelekha -- playing the leads, is currently underway at Thodupuzha.

Fazil, who has made hits like Manjil Virinja Pookkal, Ente Mamattikkuttyammaykku, Nokketha Doorathu Kannum Nattu, Poovinu Puthiya Poonthennal, Manivathoorile Aayiram Sivarathrikal, Ente Sooryaputhrikku, Papayude Swantham Appoos, Manichithrathazhu and Aniyathipravu among others, has been going through a rough patch in his career in recent years. His films like Kaiyethum Doorathu, Vismayathumbathu and Moss & Cat didn't do well at the box office.

Living Together is about the romance between a "bold" girl Shyama who falls in love with Hemachandran. Till then she was not willing to have a steady relationship with any boy and only had casual friendships.

The director says that besides being a musical, the film is also a horror story. A few other newcomers are also part of the cast along with Nedumudi Venu, Innocent and Bindu Panicker.

Yesteryear heroine Menaka makes a comeback with this film.

Produced by Pilakkandi Mohammedali, Living Together has story, screenplay and dialogues by Fazil. Anandakkuttan is the cinematographer and M Jayachandran is the music director.

Kunchacko Boban, Indrajith, Mamta Mohandas and Gowri Munjal play the lead in director Kukku Surendran's Race. The shooting of the film is currently going on at Kochi.

The film, scripted by Robin Tirumala and based on Kukku Surendran's story, talks about the race for money.

Kunchcacko Boban plays a cardiac surgeon, who makes money in a good way, while Indrajith is a baddie who resorts to ransom to earn a quick buck.

Mamta, who is back with a bang in Malayalam after the success of Passenger and Anwar, is playing Kunchacko Boban's wife in the film. Gowri Munjal, who acted with Mammootty in Paleri Manikyam: Oru pathira kolapathakathinte kadha, has been paired opposite Indrajith.

Kukku Surendran has directed Oraal with Mukesh and Shriya Reddy, and Veeralippattu with Prithviraj and Padmapriya in the lead.

Brothers in City of God

Real life brothers Prithviraj and Indrajith team up after some time in director Lijo Jose Pellissery's City of God.

It's a complex tale, where the lives of several characters intertwine, at times even without them being aware about it.

Prithviraj has completed shooting for Santhosh Sivan's Urumi and will be doing Ranjith Sankar's Arjunan Saakshi next.

In City of God, he plays the role of an educated man, who also happens to be a criminal. Indrajith plays a Tamil labourer.

The other highlight of the story is the three female characters played by Swetha Menon, Rima Kallingal and Parvathy.

City of God, produced under the banner of Mary Matha Creations, has been scripted by Babu Janardhanan.

The director, Lijo Jose Pellissery, has been appreciated for his debut movie, Nayakan.

"It is the script of the film that attracted me to this project. We are shooting it mostly with handheld cameras and the scenes will have a more realistic feel," Prithviraj says.

Yesteryear heroine Rohini has a fantastic supporting role in the film, which also stars Rajeev, Jagadeesh and Rajesh Hebbar.

Shooting of the film is currently going on at Kochi.
