Meghna George in Kochi
Director Rajesh Pillai's Traffic, which became a sensation in Malayalam, is being remade in Hindi now. "It's being produced by Endemol and the shooting is all set to begin during August- September. We are planning to release the film in January or so," says Rajesh.
The grapevine has it that several top actors from the Hindi film industry have shown interest in being part of the project. In the role of the traffic constable that Sreenivasan did in Malayalam, actors like Nana Patekar and Paresh Rawal were considered, but the latest is that Manoj Bajpayee will do it.
Sunny Deol may be playing the superstar, played by Rahman in the original. Jimmy Shergill, Rajat Barmecha and Radhika Apte are among the front runners for some of the important roles in the film. Prakash Raj will be playing the character that Sai Kumar did in the Malayalam version.
But the real surprise will be a superstar, who may do a cameo. The director is tight-lipped about the news as of now. The guessing game begins. Watch this space.
Baburaj gets a crucial break
Image: Movie poster of Salt N' PepperAashiq Abu's Salt N' Pepper has become the flavour of the season and actor Baburaj has suddenly become hot property. The actor, who was mainly seen in baddie roles until now, has done an excellent job in a humorous role as a cook in the film.
The film has food as the backdrop and features Lal, Swetha Menon, Asif Ali and Maithily in the lead roles.
Baburaj has more reason to cheer with the release of Collector, which has remained in the cans for some four years. He plays the role of the corrupt city police commissioner.
As if that's not enough, Baburaj has written, scripted, directed, produced and acts the lead role in Manushya Mrugam, that released last week.

Now Sanoosha has been paired opposite Dileep in Mr. Marumakan, directed by Sandhya Mohan. She plays the arrogant daughter of Bhagyaraj and Khushboo in the film, which is all set to hit the theatres during the Onam-Ramzan season. It remains to be seen whether she can make the transition from popular child star to successful heroine.
