Four films -- Gaana Bajana, Yaksha, Veera Parampare and Gundargovi -- will fight it out at the Kannada box office this weekend.

These four films will not only be competing with each other but also with Jackie and Pancharangi that are running successfully.

From the beginning itself Gaana Bajana was slated for October 29. Veera Parampare got postponed and chose the same day for release. As for Yaksha, the date of release was advanced to October 29.

Which means a clash is inevitable as none of the filmmakers are backing off as theatres are not available till January due to several big releases.

Prashanth Raj, the director of Gaana Bajana, however, is not worried. "Everyone is confident of their product."

Gaana Bajana will release in 40 theatres across the state including all multiplexes in Bangalore.

The film stars Tarun, the much sought after Radhika Pandit and Dilip Raj. The film is about a love story that takes place in a dance school. Both Dilip Raj and Radhika have gone in for a makeover in this film. While Dilip has pumped up his muscles, Radhika has shed her girl next door image and gone glamourous.

Sharan and C R Simha are also part of the cast. Music by Joshua Shreedhar is already popular with cinegoers.

Yaksha

Yaksha stars Loose Mada aka Yogesh. The film also brings stars Hindi actor Nana Patekar who is acting in a Kannada film for the first time. He has even dubbed for the film.

Yaksha depicts the journey of the lead character in the underworld. It tells the story of a youth who wants to emerge powerful and the obstacles he encounters.

Yaksha, according to Rig Veda, is someone who protects nature. Likewise this Yaksha will be seen protecting the society.

Theatre artiste Hiranaiah is playing the role of Yogesh's grandfather. Atul Kulkarni plays the villain. Like Patekar, he too has dubbed in Kannada for the first time.

Tamil actress Sharanya, Kishore and Komal are also part of the cast. Yogesh's brother Mahesh is also playing a crucial role in the film. Ruby is the heroine.

Yaksha's title track by Anoop Silin has already created a lot of buzz. Whether the film will evoke the same response remains to be seen.

Veeraparampare

Sudeep who had an outing with Kiccha Huccha two weeks ago is back with Veera Parampare

It's the actor's first film with director S Narayan. The film also has veteran actor Ambareesh playing a pivotal role.

Director Vijayalakshmi Singh is paired opposite him. Aindrita Ray is the heroine.

This is the first time Sudeep and Aindrita are acting together.

The film is not a remake and is set against a rural backdrop.

Gundargovi

Testing the waters with the big sharks is Gundargovi. The film stars Satya who has proven his mettle in films like Aa Dinagalu and Slum Bala. This is his first film as a hero. The film tells a 'zero to hero' story.

It is said to be filmed in Tamil film Paruthiveeran style. "The story is the highpoint of the movie. We have stayed away from any kind of gimmicks. This we feel will help us pull the crowd despite three other major releases," notes Satya.

Sharath Lohitashva and Ninasam Ashwat have played pivotal roles. Navyashree is the heroine. The film has been produced by a seven member technical team. Even the driver and light boys have contributed. The film has been made on a budget of over Rs one and a half crore.
