Ramya seems to be on a signing spree opposite younger heroes. She has gone ahead and signed Dil Ka Raja, opposite Prajwal Devaraj.
Ramya agreed to act with Loose Maada Yogish in Siddlingu which released earlier this year. She acted with a younger hero Yash in Lucky, which was produced by actress Radhika Kumaraswamy.
She is currently doing another untitled film with Diganth that is being directed by Kodi Ramakrishna.
Dil Ka Raja is produced and directed by Somanath Patil. Although Ramya had made a guest appearance in Prajwal Devaraj's film Meravanige, she has not acted with a hero as young as Prajwal.
Industry insiders now say that although Ramya's decision seems peculiar, it is clear that Prajwal has found his dil ki rani.
Kannada actor Yogish, also popularly known as Loose Maada or Kannada cinema's Dhanush, has completed shooting for Jinke Mari recently. The film is a remake of the Telugu hit Bindaas. The film is directed by debutant K P Naveen Kumar.
Sonia Gowda, who played the lead role in the Kannada film Rana that was released recently, plays the female lead in Jinke Mari. She plays the role of a television anchor on a popular Kannada channel.
The film is produced by Mahesh Balekundri who incidentally co-produced another Kannada film 9 to 12.
Director Naveen says about 40 per cent of the Telugu original has been tweaked to suit Kannada audiences. Some violent scenes from the original have been dropped from the Kannada version with the climax portion also undergoing some dramatic changes.
Despite the changes, the producers had to buy the remake rights.
Yogish plays the role of the protagonist who unites two warring families. The film is laced with comic scenes.
Beauty queen turned actress Ragini Dwivedi seems to be following in the footsteps of Malashri.
Ragini plays a cop in the Kannada film Ragini IPS that is named after her. She will be doing all the action sequences herself. The film, which mounted the sets on her birthday, is nearing completion.
There is no male co-star and no romance in the movie. Ragini promises that it will be her show all the way.
"I am inspired to do this role after watching Angelina Jolie's films and her action sequences," she says. "I have trained for this role and I have also obtained tips from Malashri who has played cop roles with aplomb and created a trend in Kannada cinema for her action roles.
"In fact, Malashri gave me some tips on how to handle the police baton as part of her first lesson. I also intend to meet some women IPS officers to get a feel of the character that I need to play."
Ragini is sweating it out on the sets doing all the action sequences herself to lend authenticity to her character. Mass Maada has composed the fights.
"After I accepted this offer, I have been getting numerous assignments to play similar roles," says Ragini.
The film is produced by K Manju and directed by Anand P Raju.
