Telugu actor Sharwanand is selective about his scripts. And he doesn't mind waiting for the right script to sign a film. His body of work in Telugu comprises good films like Gamyam, Prasthanam, Amma Cheppindi, and Vennela. He has acted in the Tamil remake of Gamyam titled Kadhal Naa Summa Illa in 2009.

Now Sharwanand is acting in a Tamil film, Engeyum Eppodhum, an A R Murugadoss and Fox Studios production directed by first time director M Saravanan. Sharwanand is very excited about this venture as is evident from this interview with Radhika Rajamani.

Was the fact that Engeyum Eppodhum is produced by A R Murugadoss and Fox Studios a determining factor in signing it?

Definitely. Murugadoss is one of the biggest directors in cinema today. Fox Studios is producing a Tamil film for the first time. On top of it all, I got to work in a good film.

The determining factor was the script. After the film releases, people will know the kind of films I am doing. I am super excited.

It is said that the film is a love story of two couples. What is interesting or special about this?

Yes, it's a love story. The point we have dealt with nobody has touched in Indian cinema. It's a screenplay-based film. It's a tough film to shoot. It's a very visual film. It has everything; comedy, love, and it's entertaining. Beyond this, I can't reveal much.

What was Murugadoss' involvement in the film besides being producer?

He just came to the sets for half a day during the climax shoot. I think his involvement was more in the selection of the film as it was his first production. Expectations are high for a Murugadoss film.

What about the involvement of Fox Studios?

It was fantastic. People came once in a while from Mumbai, like the CEO etc and saw what was going on. We were busy shooting most of the time though.

What do you play and whom are you paired with?

I'm paired opposite Ananya and we have a cute love story.

How was it acting with co-stars like Jai, Anjali and Ananya?

Everyone was fantastic. I'm so lucky to get a script like this and it is important to be part of a good film like this. Jai and Anjali's love story is hilarious.

How was your experience of acting in this Tamil film?

It was amazing. Not a day did we shoot the film in a studio. It's a travel film. We were travelling from Tiruchirrapalli to Chennai and back to Tiruchirrapalli. It was challenging, especially for the director and the cameraman. It was a well-planned film shot in natural locations.

How did you manage the language bit?

I started learning Tamil and I can now speak Tamil dialogues.

What was it like working with director Saravanan?

He is here to stay. He's going to be a big director. He's written the story and screenplay of the film himself.

Are you now open to doing more Tamil films?

Yes, of course. I am open to doing all kinds of films. Only thing I need is a good script; language doesn't matter. People are coming to me with stories in Tamil even before the release of Engeyum Eppodhum.

What are your Telugu projects now?

I have signed a film with Naresh and Shriya. We may start shooting from the 24th. I'm likely to sign another Telugu and Tamil film.
