Four Malayalam films to release this Christmas

The Christmas-New Year season is one of the biggest for Malayalam cinema and four high profile releases will add to the festivities this year.

Major Ravi's Karmayodha, G S Vijayan's Bavuttiyude Namathil, Aashiq Abu's Da Thadiya and B Unnikrishnan's I Love Me are the four films to hit the screens tomorrow, December 21.

Here is a closer look at the films.

Karmayodha

Director: Major Ravi
Cast: Mohanlal, Asha Sarath


Mohanlal plays a daredevil encounter specialist nicknamed 'Mad Maddy' in Major Ravi's Karmayodha.

"We read about the abduction of children and were shocked. I thought that the cops involved should deal with these criminals in a harsher way. All these thoughts were in my mind while creating this character," says Major Ravi.

Karmayodha is being produced under the banner of Red Rose Creations.

The cinematographer is Pradeep Nair and the music director is M G Sreekumar.

Bavuttiyude Namathil

In Bavuttiyude Namathil, scripted by Ranjith and directed by G S Vijayan, Mammootty plays a chauffeur in a wealthy household.

For Sethu, the character played by Urumi scenarist Shankar Ramakrishnan, life is all about making money, but Bavutty, his chauffeur, is a simple man with small dreams.

The cast includes Shankar Ramakrishnan, Kavya Madhavan, Vineeth, Kaniha, Rima Kallingal, Harisree Asokan and Sudheesh.

Bavuttiyude Namathil is produced under the banner of Capitol Theatres. Cinematography is by Manoj Pillai and music by Shahabaz Aman.

Da Thadiya

Expectations are running high for the next film by Salt N' Pepper director Aashiq Abu.

Abu says Da Thadiya is a fun film that narrates the love story of an obese youth named Luke John Prakash.

DJ Sekhar Menon makes his film debut as an actor and the director says that he has surprised all with his acting skills.

"Luke comes from a wealthy family and is in love with this girl named Ann Mary Thadikkaran, played by Ann Augustine. The evolution of their relationship through various stages is being narrated here," says Abu.

Nivin Pauly, Sreenath Bhasi, Arundhati Nag, Maniyanpillai Raju and Edavela Babu form the rest of the cast.

Da Thadiya is being produced under the banner of Anto Joseph Film Company.

I Love Me

In B Unnikrishnan's I Love Me, four youngsters take the easy route to make a fast buck but things don't happen the way they would have liked.

Anoop Menon, who has been creating waves as a scenarist and as an actor, plays the lead in the film along with Asif Ali, Unni Mukundan and the Thattathin Marayathu beauty, Isha Talwar.

"It is about four selfish youngsters who transcend this attitude after going through certain unprecedented situations. It is a musical love story and in a way, a mix of some genres," says Unnikrishnan, who is directing the film based on Sethu's script.

I Love Me is being produced under the banner of Vyshakha Cinemas. Satheesh Kurup wields the camera and Deepak Dev has scored the music.
