Malayalam superstar Mohanlal has been signed to play the lead in the Malayalam film Peruchaazhi, a hilarious comedy directed by Arun Vaidyanathan who made Achchamundu, Achamundu.

Like his first film, Peruchaazhi is also set primarily in the USA.

It seems Mohanlal was bowled over by the novel idea behind the film. The director, who is a big fan of Mohanlal's comedy, is excited that the actor has agreed to play the lead role in his second film. "He will fit the role perfectly. The shooting of the film will start by the end of this year as soon as the pre- production and visa formalities are done."

The lead female character will be played by an American actress, for which the search is going on.

For their 12th production venture, AGS Entertainments is bringing together the celebrated brothers of Tamil cinema - filmmaker Jayam Raja and actor Jayam Ravi. Interestingly, the actor-filmmaker-production house had earlier teamed up to make the blockbuster Santosh Subramaniam.

Raja and Ravi had teamed up in the past and made hits such as Jayam, M.Kumaran S/o Mahalakshmi, Unakkum Enakkum, Santhosh Subramaniam and Thillalangadi. This is the sixth time that the two are coming together.
Raja's last film was the successful Velayudham with Vijay in the lead. Raja promises that his new film with his brother "will be a new dimension in action and family drama category. For six months, I was immersed in sketching a fresh story and writing a challenging screenplay. It will be another grand one like Velayudham."

The film is expected to go on the floors in May this year.
