After winning hearts with his 'love story', Kannada industry's on screen Krishna, Ajay Rao, is now gearing up to share his 'marriage story'.
Ajay has signed a film titled Krishnan Marriage Story. And no, this film is not the sequel to his previous release Krishnan Love Story.
"This is an entirely different film and is in no way connected to Krishnan Love Story. It's just a coincidence that the names of the male protagonists in both films is Krishna. In fact Krishnan Marriage Story was to come out much before Krishnan Love Story, but it took this long for things to fall in place," Ajay says clearing the confusion.
So what happened to the sequel that Krishnan Love Story director Shashank were planning?
"It may happen sometime next year. The first part was a huge success because of its realistic feel and we will think of a sequel only when we get hold of an equally realistic subject matter," he says.
While Ajay is not very forthcoming about the sequel to Krishnan Love Story, he is all for talking about his on screen marriage saga. "I have gone for a makeover for this film. You'll see me sporting a French beard and I'll use all the latest gadgets. My costumes will also be stylish."
The film stars Krishna, an ad film director as its central character. "In terms of the intensity of character, he is a lot like the Krishna in Krishnan Love Story. But this Krishna is from a joint family and is being pressurised to get married."
Ajay says he identifies with the character he is playing as he faces the same issue at home. "Even when I go home, my family comes with photos asking me to pick a suitable girl, so I feel I can do complete justice to my character," he jokes.
The hero is however yet to find not just his real but also his reel heroine.
"We have been on the lookout for the right girl. In fact it's starting to look like we are from a household which is looking for a bride for our boy," chips in director Nutan Umesh who is debuting with this film.
"While some Kannada girls we liked refused to take up the offer as they wanted to launch through Tamil and Telugu films, some established actors we considered had date problems. We are looking at a lot of new faces and while some suit the heroine's persona in the first half, the others fit the one in the second half. So we are yet to zero in on that perfect face. We're looking for a bubbly girl-next-door type," says Nutan.
The buzz is that Genelia D'Souza was offered the role but she could not sign the film because of date problems. Another Hindi actress who is busy doing Tamil and Malayalam films also declined the project because of date problems.
While the heroine is yet to be finalised, it is said that most of Krishnan Love Story's supporting cast and technical team have been repeated for this film.
