The film that had a rich haul at the National Awards (Best Film, Best Actor, Best Cinematography and Best Background Score) is releasing this week. Yes, we are talking about Salim Ahmed's Aadaminte Makan Abu.
Also out this week will be debutant director Babu Janardhanan's 1993 Bombay March 12 in which Mammootty plays the lead, and veteran director Siby Malayil's romantic tale, Violin.

It came as a surprise when a little known film called Aadaminte Makan Abu won several awards at the national and state levels. According to director Salim Ahmed the film is about an old Muslim couple who want to go for Haj. "They are in search of the money required for the trip and are even ready to die there."
According to actor Salim Kumar, who is mostly seen in comic roles, winning the national and the state awards for best actor was "truly overwhelming". He believes that his achievement could inspire other actors to do their best and aim for the ultimate.
"It was a genuine script and the character was well written. I had great hopes about the film soon after I read the script and it has been very well taken," says the actor, who is distributing the film himself.
Adaminte Makan Abu has been produced by Salim Ahmed and Ashraf Bedi. The cinematographer is Madhu Ambat and the music is by Isaac Thomas Kottukappilly and Ramesh Narayan.

According to the director, "1993 Bombay March 12 is an emotional family drama set in the aftermath of the Mumbai bomb blasts in 1993. It is a suspense drama which mentions several important events that happened in the country, like the Babri Masjid issue, and even certain controversial episodes that happened abroad."
Mammootty is Sanathana Bhat, who somewhere along the line converts to Islam and becomes Sameer, a municipality worker. He marries Abida (Roma), an ordinary village girl.
1993 Bombay March 12 has been produced by Haneef Mohammed under the banner of Red Rose Creations. The cinematographer is Vipin Mohan and the music director is Afsal Yusuf.
Violin

"Violin is a musical love story about two youngsters, Aby (Asif Ali) and Angel (Nithya Menon). Music is their life and brings them together," says Siby Malayil, one of the finest directors in Malayalam cinema.
The film has been scripted by Viju Ramachandran.
Asif Ali is quite excited about the project as the young actor is playing a solo hero for the first time. "My character had a rather traumatic childhood and it took some time before the two became close. Angel was hesitant to be friendly with men, but music brought them close," he says.
Violin has been produced by AOPL Entertainment Pvt Ltd. The cinematographer is Manoj Pillai and the music directors are Biji Bal and Anand Raj Anand.
