Unlike Bollywood's last star wedding (AbhiAsh, in case you had forgotten), Shilpa Shetty's wedding to British businessman Raj Kundra was conspicuous by its absence of star power.
Bollywood was represented by producer Vashu Bhagnani and his son Jaccky, who are Kundra's neighbours at his new home in Juhu, northwest Mumbai, and actor Rohit Roy and his wife Mansi (we didn't know they were that close to Shilpa and Raj).
Sunil Shetty -- who also hails from Mangalore's Bunt community like Shilpa and Aishwarya Rai -- we hear was also present.
Raj and Shilpa plan to invite the rest of Bollywood to their reception on Tuesday, November 24, before the couple jet off to the Bahamas for their honeymoon.
The villa belongs to the family of Kiran Bawa, a close friend of Shilpa's.
Kiran, whose family owns the Bawa hotels in Mumbai, owns the Iosis spa in northwest Mumbai's Lokhandwala complex, where Shilpa also has a stake.
Shilpa, Raj and their families stayed at the Duke's Retreat hotel close by.
Hordes of journalists, cameramen and the star-struck turned up outside the villa for a glimpse of the shaadi.
After the chuda ceremony, Raj mounted his horse and his baraat took off for the Bawa villa at 4:30 pm.
Raj, who has been married before, and Shilpa first met when the actress was based in London on the eve of her successful appeararance on the Big Brother show.
"The mandap overlooked the sunset," the businesswoman said, "and looked very romantic." Aw.
Raj wore a gold sherwani with a pagdi (turban) in gold and red, and a traditional sword.
The wedding ceremonies were conducted in Bunt style with the bride's sister Shamita, freshly evicted from the Bigg Boss set in nearby Lonavala, playing a stellar part in the proceedings.
The cuisine was Mangalorean as well; lots of yummy gassi was served, we hear.
The couple left for their new home in Mumbai on Sunday night.
