Yash Chopra's contribution to Indian cinema has been huge, and he's told some great stories through his movies.
In his career, which began in 1969, Chopra had made an extraordinarily grand and invaluable contribution to Hindi cinema through his vivid interpretations of romance, comments on pedantic social structures, fascinating journeys into the human psyche, larger-than-life portrayals of the anti-hero and an undying celebration of life, culture, beauty and nature.
Of the 22 films he's directed himself, some are outright classics, others are nice but even his most middling efforts are immensely watchable.

Amitabh Bachchan, who worked in memorable Yash Chopra films like Kabhi Kabhie and Silsila, paid a moving tribute to the veteran filmmaker in his blog post.
