The Rajnikanth fever gripped fans in India, and abroad, as they welcomed his new film Endhiran/Robot with open arms.
A reader from New Jersey, sent us evidence of just how crazy fans can get when it comes to the Superstar. You can also share the Rajni madness with us.
He describes the first day first show of Endhiran at Big Cinemas, North Bergen, New Jersey:
We have unofficially formed the North East USA Rasigar Mandram. We pre-ordered t-shirts from our friends in Chennai/Tirpathur, which were distributed. We brought confetti, milk, coconuts and pumpkins.
Everything was in place for the opening day.
Around 30 of us went to the theatre in eight cars. Songs like Irumbile and Arima were blaring from the car speakers.
The entire Jersey City stared at us as we made our way towards John F Kennedy Boulevard.
Disappointment struck when we realised there were no cutouts of the Thalaivar outside the theatre for us to perform a rasigan's kadamaigal including dhisti suthuthal. Later, we found a poster which was lit from behind and did the honours.
Once in the theatre, we couldn't sit tight. All of us had seats but they were scattered through the theatre. We took our positions at the bottom of the screen with confetti ready in hand.
The celebrations started as soon as the Censor Board certificate came on the screen. We made everyone stand and clap when the Thalaivar's name was displayed. All of us went crazy with the confetti.
I can't even begin to describe the atmosphere. You had to be there to really get the sense of excitement and joy.
We enjoyed the entire movie sitting on the steps and on the floor. Loved the fight sequences and Thalaivar's Avatharam. Wow! The whole theatre went crazy when he took different forms.
But the last hour of the film was mindblowing. We were speechless. I saw a mix of 16 Vayathunile paratai and mundru mugam Alex pandian. Thalaivar was freaking awesome.
If you really want to know what mainstream Indian cinema is all about, then watch Endhiran, the pride of Indian cinema!
