Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan bid goodbye to Tamil lyricist Vaali

The cream of the Tamil film industry turned up to pay homage to the late lyricist.

Prominent members of the Tamil film industry attended the funeral of the late lyricist Vaali at the Besant Nagar crematorium in south Chennai on Friday to pay their last respects.

Superstar Rajinikanth arrived with actor Vijayakanth and offered his condolences to the grieving family.

Anirudh Ravichander, Dhanush

Rajinikanth's son-in-law Dhanush was accompanied by Kolaveri D composer Anirudh Ravichander. Anirudh is the nephew of Rajnikanth and Lata, while Dhanush is married to their daughter Aishwarya.

Incidentally, Vaali had penned the lyrics of Dhanush's latest film Mariyaan, which released today, July 19.

Kamal Haasan

Kamal Haasan also mourned the death of the famous songwriter. Vaali acted in Kamal Haasan's Hey Ram, among many others.

Ajith and Shalini

Actor Ajith arrived with wife Shalini to pay tribute to Vaali.

Music composer Ilayaraja, who has worked with Vaali in many films, pays his last respects.

Actor Vijay Sethupathi, whose Soodhu Kavvum was one of the hits of 2013, pays a floral tribute.
