The Directorate of Film Festival along with Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute in Kolkata has organised a four-day festival to pay homage to filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh from Thursday August 8.
The 11 times National Award winning director passed away on May 30 following cardiac arrest.
The festival opened with the premiere of Jeevan Smriti - Rituparno's unreleased documentary on Rabindranath Tagore.
Some of the director's most acclaimed films Unishe April, Dosar, Bariwali, Chokher Bali and Chitrangada will be screened at the festival.
Raima Sen who acted in Rituparno's Chokher Bali, among many others was present on the occasion.

Prosenjit Chatterjee who has worked with Ghosh in many films, including Unishe April and Utsab was present at the event.
Rituparna Sengupta pays homage to the director.
Actor-filmmaker-singer Anjan Dutt who worked with Ghosh in Chitangdha gave a live performance.
Music director Raja Narayan Deb along with actors and filmmakers from the Bengali film industry presented a musical tribute by performing a medley of songs from Ghosh's film.
Actors Jishu Sengupta (left) and Kaushik Ghosh were also present.
