Prithviraj mocked in Cinema Company?

Director Mamas's recently released film, Cinema Company, is in the news for all the wrong reasons.

The film, which has opened to mixed response from viewers, has a character allegedly modelled on Prithviraj.

The character in the film is a young hero, who has a remarkable similarity to the actor and there are enough clues to indicate that the target is indeed Prithviraj.

But Mamas denies it and said in a statement that "Prithviraj and I are on good terms and I would never ever do anything to harm his image or anyone's in the industry I am part of. This is just a bad character I created to enhance the cinematic value and I am very sure Prithviraj is not a character anywhere close to Rajeev in the film."

Can all these controversies help the film's box office performance? Let's wait and watch.

Jayasurya plays an effeminate guy

In Shafi's forthcoming film 101 Weddings, Jayasurya plays a dance teacher named Jyothish Kumar who reinforces the stereotype that dancers are effeminate.

"My character is a classical dance teacher. He always wanted to be a dancer and his nature is more like a woman. It can be done in a serious way but I have done it in a humorous way," says Jayasurya.

He is aware that the role of an effeminate guy will be compared to the hugely popular character played by Dileep in Chanthupottu.

"I have given a style of my own to make the character interesting. He is a normal guy, who behaves in a feminine way," he says.

The shooting of the film, which also stars Kunchacko Boban, Biju Menon, Samvrutha Sunil and Bhama, is currently going on at Idukki.

Kavya, the poet

A compilation of eight songs penned by actor Kavya Madhavan has been released as an album titled Kavyadalangal.

Kavya has also composed the music for two of the songs in the album. The others have been set to music by Anoop and Arun.

The audio was released by well-known poet O N V Kurup and superstar Mammootty in Kochi, in the presence of several big names from the industry.

Dileep, who won the Kerala state film award for the best actor recently, was honoured at the function.
