When heroines said yes to smoking

Earlier, smoking was only restricted to the men, vamps and the occasional 'spoilt' heroine.

But times have changed in Bollywood. Women light up quite easily, and still have their values in tact.

In Katrina Kaif's upcoming film Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, the actress plays a cool rock chick, who smokes a beedi.

We decided to take a look at other women who have smoked on screen.

Vidya Balan

Apparently, Vidya Balan will be seen smoking in her upcoming film, The Dirty Picture, where she portrays the late South Indian actress Silk Smitha.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was seen puffing a cigarette for the first time in Guzaarish. Her character Sonia, a nurse, had to tend to her quadriplegic patient (played by Hrithik Roshan), including handing a cigarette over to him.

Deepika Padukone

Donning a corporate look, Deepika looked stylish in Karthik Calling Karthik. While she liked to have a smoke now and then, her boyfriend (Farhan Akhtar) preferred her without the cancer stick in her hand.

Kangna Ranaut

Kangna has never felt shy of smoking on screen, and done it quite a few times in films like Woh Lamhe, Fashion and Tanu Weds Manu.

Priyanka Chopra

Priyanka Chopra played a small-town girl, who became rich and famous overnight, thanks to her successful modelling career in Fashion. Her character becomes hooked on to the fast life, alcohol, drugs and cigarettes, and is seen puffing unabashedly.

Kareena Kapoor

Kareena Kapoor played the foul-mouthed prostitute in Chameli, and was seen smoking beedis to give an authentic look to her role.

Rani Mukerji

In her last release No One Killed Jessica, Rani plays a no-nonsense journalist, who lights up or gives the choicest abuses whenever she feels like. Rani had earlier smoked for her film Bichoo.

Preity Zinta

Preity Zinta played a prostitute-turned-surrogate mother in Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, and was seen smoking a cigarette before she got pregnant.
