PIX: Stroll on the beach with Kareena, Guru Dutt!

It was time Bollywood stars had their own version of Hollywood's Walk of Fame.

UTV Stars recently unveiled statues, handprints and signatures of several Hindi cinema luminaries as part of 'Walk Of The Stars' initiative that were installed along the popular promenade at Bandstand in Bandra, a wetsern Mumbai suburb.

Kareena Kapoor, who had her hand imprints installed at the promenade, also unveiled her grandfather Raj Kapoor and granduncle Shami Kapoor's statues as part of Walk Of The Stars.

While Hollywood's Walk Of Fame features over 2,400 imprints so far, UTV stars has started out with a modest number.

At present, 19 Bollywood stars feature on the promenade.

Yesteryear stars Meena Kumari, Guru Dutt, Kishore Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Raj Kapoor, Prithviraj Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor, Dev Anand, Sunil Dutt, Nargis Dutt feature with their signatures.

Their successors -- Neetu Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Sridevi and Shabana Azmi -- have earned the rare distinction of having their handprints installed.

Set in the heart of tinseltown, The Walk Of Stars is a bid to bring the most ardent fans closer to their favourite stars.

UTV Stars intends to launch the drive in Delhi, Dubai and London.

As many as eight members of the Kapoor clan -- the oldest film family -- will feature on the Walk, right from Prithviraj Kapoor to the family's youngest star -- Ranbir Kapoor.

While the statues being installed are made of brass, the hand imprints are taken in a clay cast and later placed in a brass mould.

The promenade is set to gain more popularity as more and more fans flock to the spot to catch a glimpse of the traces of their favourite stars.
