Aishwarya Rai Bachchan joined Hollywood actors Michael Douglas, Forest Whitaker and United Nations Secretary General Ban ki-Moon to commemorate the International Peace Day on September 21 at the UN headquaters in New York City.
This was her first visit to the United Nation's headquarters.
The ceremony was also attended by British anthropologist Jane Goodall, Jewish-American writer and Nobel Laureate Elie Wiesel along with American actress and singer Monique Coleman.
Ash was reportedly excited about her visit and said that she was glad she could contribute in sending out a powerful message on peace.
Keeping up her appearances in desi avatars, the actress wore a black and beige lehenga.
The actress was also photographed having a conversation with Ban ki-Moon and Monique Coleman after the UN chief's address.
Ash stands along side actor Forest Whitaker as the gathered guests observe a moment of silence in remembrance of victims of conflict and those being subjected to Human Rights violations.
The actress, who was spotted leaving for the US at the Mumbai airport with daughter Aaradhya, will soon join husband Abhishek Bachchan in Chicago, where he is shooting for Dhoom 3.
