Amitabh Bachchan waved to his fans after a shoot for the movie Khushboo Gujarat Ki (Fragrance of Gujarat) in Raipur Ahmedaband on January 29.

The Big B was in the state to embark upon the second round of shoots to promote tourism in India's western state of Gujarat.

Thousands of fans and admirers thronged the venue and tried to shake hands with Bachchan as he waved to them and tried to make an exit.

Bachchan, who's also the brand ambassador of Gujarat Tourism, expressed gratitude through his Twitter account. He wrote, "People of Gujarat! A special thank you for your love and affection... unpolluted, unreserved and filled with only love!!"

The actor also flew a kite as part of the ad campaign and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

He posted some of his kite-flying pictures and tweeted, "Kite flying .. on the roof, chanting and screaming of those around, bells, thali sound and the kite .."

In between shoots and greetings, Bachchan inaugurated a cancer hospital in Ahmedabad and also visited Balaram Palace -- where his film Suryavansham was shot.

Apart from Raipur, the actor also shot at Vadnagar.

He also took out time to visit Sidhpur and perform shraadh (a ritual performed for the departed soul) for his mother Teji Bachchan who passed away in 2007.

He tweeted, "At Sidhpur, Gujarat the only place where they do 'shraadh' for women .. did for my Mother after shoot .."

Sidhpur is the only place where shraadh is performed for women.
