PIX: Aamir Khan gets US award for social making impact

After Kareena Kapoor was honoured in the UK, it was Aamir Khan's turn to get honoured in the US!

Aamir is among the few celebrities to have been honoured by the America Abroad Media (AAM). He was awarded for making an impact on social issues through television and cinema. His TV show Satyamev Jayate dealt with quite a few social causes in India.

The special event was held at the Andrew Mellon Auditorium in Washington, DC recently.

Aamir was accompanied by his wife Kiran Rao.

Aamir shared the stage with quite a few distinguished personalities, including Oscar-winning director Kathryn Bigelow (of The Hurt Locker fame)

The others included Peter Ackerman, founding chair of the International Center on Nonviolent Conflict and managing director of Rockport Capital Incorporated, and Dr Aaron Lobel, founder and president of America Abroad Media.
