Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who was recently apppointed the goodwill ambassador for the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS, paid a visit to the Sion hospital, in Mumbai, on World AIDS Day, December 1.
Dressed in denims and a red UNAIDS tee shirt, the actress spoke to the media about progress made by India in fighting the disease.
The actress said that the number of AIDS cases in India has gone down considerably but consolidated efforts are required to fight it more effectively.
Rakhi Sawant also stepped out to lend support to the cause on World AIDS Day.
The starlet flagged off a rally in Juhu, a western Mumbai suburb.
Dressed in a red tee shirt and heavy bangs, the starlet wore tinted Aviators as she joined other activists.
Television actress Nishigandha Wad (in the red sari) and lyricist Sameer also took part in the rally.
