The year 2012 saw a lot of south remakes, sequels and unconventional movies dominating the Hindi film industry.
The year ahead looks just as exciting for Bollywood, as the big banners like Yash Raj Films are producing a range of movies -- from masala movies like Dhoom 3 to unconventional comedies like Mere Dad Ki Maruti.
In a special series, we look at the prominent production houses, and their line-up for 2013.
We start with Yash Raj Films. Take a look.
Dhoom 3
Aamir Khan will take over as villain in the third instalment of Dhoom, and will be paired opposite Katrina Kaif for the first time.
Produced by Aditya Chopra, the film is written and directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, who had written the earlier Dhoom movies, and directed Tashan.
Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra will reprise their respective roles in this film that promises some great action. The first schedule in Chicago has been completed.
Scheduled for a Christmas release, Dhoom 3 will be the first Indian film to be released on IMAX screens.
Gunday
Image: Movie poster of GundayStarring Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor, Gunday is a story about two happy-go-lucky rebels, who go from being small time, inconsequential wagon breakers and coal thieves to two of the biggest and most powerful black marketting mafia men in Kolkata in the early 1970's.
The film also stars Priyanka Chopra and Irrfan Khan.
Aurangzeb
Image: Arjun KapoorArjun Kapoor will be seen in a double role in his third film with Yash Raj Films.
Directed by Atul Sabharwal, Aurangzeb is rumoured to be inspired from the 1978 film Trishul, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor.
Rishi Kapoor will be seen in yet another menacing performance in Aurangzeb after his brilliant act in Agneepath. The film also stars Prithviraj, Jackie Shroff and Amrita Singh.
Pakistani singer and actress Salma Agha's daughter Sasha will make her debut in the film.
The shooting started last August and it is scheduled for an early 2013 release.
Mere Dad Ki Maruti
Image: Movie poster of Mere Dad Ki MarutiMere Dad Ki Maruti is a comedy, starring television actor Ram Kapoor, actor Saqib Saleem (who had debuted in Y Films' Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge) and VJ-turned-actress Rhea Chakraborty.
Directed by debutant Ashima Chibber, the film tells the story of guy who sneaks out with his father's new car to impress a girl and falls into trouble when he loses the car. The basic plot looks similar to the Hollywood 2000 film Dude Where's My Car.
Ayushman Khurrana and Sonam Kapoor's untitled venture
Image: Ayushman Khurrana and Sonam KapoorAfter making an amazing debut in Vicky Donor, Ayushman Khurrana has bagged the lead role opposite Sonam Kapoor in Yash Raj Films' next untitled venture.
A comedy set in Delhi, it revolves around recession and how the lack of money tests love.
Written by Habib Faisal, the film will be directed by Nupur Asthana, who had made her directorial debut with the 2011 film Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge, under the Y Films banner.
The film also stars Rishi Kapoor and is expected to go on the floors in February.
