Balaji hopes to score with Iniya

Balaji, brother of "Crazy Star" Ravichandran needs a hit badly. And he's looking to tide over the bad phase in his career with his latest Kannada film Iniya opposite the glamorous Pooja Gandhi.

The film is produced by Shylendra Babu and directed by Mahesh who earlier made the hugely successful Mussanje Maathu with Sudeep and Ramya.

Balaji, whose last film Raja Kumaari did not do well at the box office, has a high hopes of Iniya. "I always give my hundred percent to my films. Struggle is part of the development of any artist in the film industry. I have always worked hard in my films and hope for the best. Success and failure of any film is not in my hands. It all depends on how people look at it," he says.

His latest film sees him as a struggler too. But here, he is struggling to save his love. "There are three phases in his love life. The first is when he starts loving the girl, the second is when his love gets strengthened and the last is when she moves away from him due to some unavoidable circumstances", says Balaji.

When she accepted the film, Pooja Gandhi was not sure how Mahesh would translate his ideas on screen. "But now I am happy that he has remained faithful to his narration. It is a sweet but painful love story. The film shows the extreme feelings in love and how two lovers struggle to remain true to their love," she says.

As for Mahesh, the director of Iniya, he just cannot stop praising Balaji.

"The film is certain to turn the tide in favour of Balaji; he has worked really hard in the film. Pooja Gandhi, in her new slim look is the perfect choice for the role," he says.

Two songs composed by Sridhar, who is the toast of Kannada film industry after the success of Mussanje Maathu, have been picturised in Malaysia.
