Looking at Moscowin Kaveri
Ravi Varman is perhaps the only Indian cinematographer from India to have won an international award. He received the best cinematography award at the 23rd International Film Festival in France for Jayaraj's Malayalam film, Santham.
Like Santosh Sivan, Ravi K Chandran and P C Sreeram, Ravi Varman who started off as an assistnat to Ravi K Chandran, has also worked as a cinematographer in all the south Indian languages as well as Hindi.
His recent well known and successful Tamil films are Cheran's Autograph, Gautham Menon's Vettayadu Vilayadu, K S Ravikumar's Dasavatharam, Shankar's Anniyan and Revathy's Phir Milenge, to name a few.

After remaining in the cans for a long time, his directorial debut in Tamil, Moscowin Kaveri is finally releasing on August 27. The film was completed a long time back but due to a tiff between the director and producer, it got delayed.
The heroine Samantha was spotted by Ravi Varman in an ad. She was to make her debut with this film, but now she has become a well known name in Telugu with the huge success of Gautham Vasudev Menon's Yeh Maaya Chesave.
She is now acting with NTR junior and Mahesh Babu.

Another person who is introduced by Ravi Varman is music compser Thaman who has become a well known name now.
The hero of the film is another model, Rahul Ravindran. Part of the cast is Harshavardhan, son of noted theatre personality Y G Mahendran, in a negative role.

Moscowin Kaveri as the title is quite intriguing. Asked why he named it so, the director replied, "The characters are as different as these two names. It is a leaf out of my life."
He added that the film has only the good moments from his life, which is more dramatic than a film script. He was born in a village near Thanjavur and lost his parents at a very young age. All alone, he decided to end his life by lying on a railway track. Instead of dying, he got arrested for trying to commit suicide. Once out of jail, he decided to do something worthwhile and moved to Chennai. The rest, as they say, is history.
He says that he may make a film based on the dark side of his life too! But Moscowin Kaveri has only good and romantic moments in it.
