According to a recent poll conducted by The Taj Hotels group, Katrina Kaif has pipped Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as the most desired star guest at North Indian weddings.

In the elite circles of industrialists, artists and politicians, where opulent weddings are a mark of social status and decadence is actively encouraged, getting an A-list Bollywood star to grace the occasion seems more ritualistic than a passing fad now.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who continues to enjoy a sizeable fan following despite having stayed away from acting for a while now, comes close at number two with nine per cent votes.

Interestingly, according to The Taj Wedding Barometer, young couples prefer male celebrities to perform and attend their weddings over females.

Chennai Express star Shah Rukh Khan ranks pretty high in the North Indian wedding wish list.

Arch rival Salman Khan too is a popular choice as a star wedding guest.

Amitabh Bachchan rounds off the Top Five list.
