There is exciting news for James Bond fans -- a new 007 film has officially been announced.
Film studio MGM and EON Productions executives have announced that the 23rd James Bond film will begin production later this year, and be released worldwide on November 9, 2012.
Daniel Craig is back for his third turn as the secret agent, while Oscar winner Sam Mendes will direct a screenplay written by Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and John Logan, reports the BBC.
The franchise had been on hold amid financial troubles, with MGM filing for bankruptcy protection last November.
Work on the 23rd film was suspended in April 2010 because of uncertainty over the company's future.
James Bond is one of the longest running franchises in film history.
Its return marks a four-year hiatus for Bond since his last adventure, Quantum of Solace in 2008.

In an interview, Nicole Kidman has confessed that she has used Botox to keep her complexion so porcelain perfect.
The actress earlier said that she had never used Botox to keep wrinkles at bay.
However, the Oscar-winning actress has now admitted to having the injections.
But she insisted she no longer uses it, because she did not like the results.
The 43-year-old star made her confession to a German magazine interviewer who asked her about keeping wrinkles away.
'I've tried a lot of things but apart from working out and a good diet most things don't help,' the Daily Mail quoted her as saying.
'I even tried Botox but I didn't like how my face looked afterwards. Now I don't use it anymore and I can move my forehead again,' she added.
Colin Farrell is all set to play Arnold Schwarzenegger's role in a remake of Total Recall.
The 34-year-old was rumoured to be taking over the lead role in the iconic sci-fi movie last year, but now producer Neal Moritz has confirmed the news.
Farrell was recently keeping quiet about the rumours that he is involved in the film.
Moritz confirmed to Collider.com that Farrell would be starring in the film.
'We're doing the movie with Colin Farrell,' the Daily Mail quoted him as saying.
The film will start shooting in Toronto on May 15 this year with Underworld director Len Wiseman behind the camera.
The 1990 original was directed by Paul Verhoeven and is based on cult Philip K Dick's short story We Can Remember It For You Wholesale.
The movie tells the story of a man going on a virtual vacation to Mars, where an unexpected and harrowing series of events forces him to go to the planet "for real." (ANI)
Actress Eva Longoria has been sued for at least 4 million dollars by her former Las Vegas nightclub partner.
Mali Nachum, a former partner in the financially troubled Beso club, filed the suit on Monday in Los Angeles County Superior Court, claiming Longoria violated California usury laws, reports the Telegraph.
The Desperate Housewives star lent Nachum 1 million dollars for the venture in 2009 and was promised repayment at 8 per cent annual interest and a large stake in the club.
But according to the suit, Nachum discovered in December that the terms violated California usury laws.
He estimates damages of at least 4 million dollars and is seeking three times that figure.
A statement from Longoria's publicist calls the suit meritless and blames her former partners for forcing the nightclub into bankruptcy protection last week.
