The film, Snow White and the Huntsman, will be directed by Rupert Sanders and is slated for a 2012 release.

Elton John announces retirement

Singing superstar Elton John has announced that he will never put out a single again as he cannot compete with young talent like Lady Gaga.

The man behind classics like 'Rocket Man', 'Your Song' and 'Candle in the Wind', said that he will continue with "little side projects", reported GQ magazine online.

The 63-year-old said that he has reached a stage where he does not want to do pop anymore but neither can he go over to the rock genre.

"Look, I'm 63. I don't want to be on VH1 or MTV. I'm not going to compete with JLS or Lady Gaga. I'm at that stage where I don't think I can write pop music any more. I can't sit down and do a proper rock song. It was OK when I was 25 or 26, but not any more," said John.

The singer formed half of one of pop's most successful partnerships with lyricist Bernie Taupin in 1967 and has sold more than 250 million records in a career spanning five decades.

"I've made 40-odd albums. People aren't screaming for another Elton John record and I'm not screaming to make another record," said the hitmaker.

Cheryl Cole grabs pole position

''X Factor'' judge Cheryl Cole has made it to number one position after the singer sold 1,57,000 copies of her solo single album ''Promise This'', according to the Official Charts Company.

''Promise This'' is her second number one solo single, following last year's debut release ''Fight For This Love'', The Telegraph reports.

And it was the highest first week sales of 2010 for a non-charity single.

The record was also broken by Rihanna who sold 126,000 copies of ''Only Girl'' (In The World), which entered the singles chart at number two.

Emma Watson, Rupert Grint could be 'kissing cousins'

Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, who share a steamy snog in the next Harry Potter film, could be relatives from the village of Kilworth, Leics- reveal ancestry experts.

Family history researcher Nick Barratt traced the family trees of Emma, 20, and Rupert, 22, and found that more than 200 years ago their families had links to the village and could even be related.

'It is very rare to take two people who have no other connection and find they have a link to a small village like this,' the Daily Star quoted Nick, of ancestry magazine Your Family History, as saying.

He described the coincidence as "amazing."

Grint's paternal line stretches back to 1792 when distant relation William Berridge was born in North Kilworth.

Barratt uncovered a branch of Watson's family were the Bonsors of South Kilworth, who established a brick-making business in the early 19th century.

'The Bonsors were a big family round here, as were the Berridges,' Rachel Root, 70, a local historian, said.

Bruce Willis goes commando for action roles

Bruce Willis has confessed that he doesn't always wear underwear when filming action movies.

The Die Hard legend, who portrayed police detective John McClane since 1988, said it takes a certain type of man to become a fully fledged action hero, who needs to be macho, kind and be willing to drop your pants on demand.

'You can't take yourself too seriously. And with being an action star there's a handbook about heroism, whether it's a firefighter or a cop or anything. There's a set of values that come with it,' Contactmusic quoted him as saying.

'You have to be a good friend, loyal and kind to animals. And kind to the director. You have to be brace and be able to cry on camera. Plus you have to share your thoughts, but only at gunpoint. You also have to be a damn good shot. And maybe wear no underwear,' he said.

The 55-year-old hunk also admitted he often worries he is getting too old to keep doing his own stunts and stripping off for the cameras.

'Right now, I'm doing OK, but I used to bounce off cars a lot easier than I do now. On the last Die Hard film there were a few weeks where I was from my hip to my ankle, so if we're going another one I thought I'd better hurry up and do it,' he said.
