Leonardo DiCaprio was one of the passengers on board the flight that burst into flames on Sunday and the actor praised the pilot for landing the aircraft safely at JFK airport.

"En route to attend the Tiger Summit in St Petersburg, Leonardo DiCaprio was one of the passengers aboard Delta Flight 30," read a statement released by the Titanic star's representatives.

"He wishes to commend the actions of the pilot and flight crew in bringing the plane to a safe landing," it said.

The Moscow bound aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing at JFK airport after one of its two engines caught on fire.

The New York Post reported on Sunday that pilots believe that the accident was caused by birds. The Boeing 767 Delta flight carrying 193 passengers lost the engine just after takeoff at 4:25 pm, which said that the burning flight circled the airport for 90 minutes.

Teri Hatcher has dismissed reports that she has quit the hit TV series Desperate Housewives.

'There are not enough adjectives to describe how stupid, off base, and ridiculously untrue this is... What disturbs me the most is that one fan would consider for one second that I would ''quit'' what has been... one of the highlights of my career for which I am grateful on a daily basis,' the Age quoted Hatcher as saying on her Facebook.com page following the report in Britain's Sunday Express.

'I have never said nor inferred otherwise... I am awaiting a retraction and apology at the least... I will say it again, I love DH, the cast and crew are like family and I am with it till it's cancelled.'

The paper on Sunday reported the actress, who has played Susan Mayer in all seven series of the drama since it began in 2004, had told executives at America's ABC network that the show's next season will be her last.

It said she was leaving the show so she could work on a new series.

In her posts, Hatcher praised the makers of Desperate Housewives for their "new energy" on the current season, which features Vanessa Williams in a new role.

'Vanessa Williams and the writers have brought a new energy to the show this year and I expect and hope it can continue on for a long time. I meet many people who still find so much joy in watching it and I want everyone to know I'm joyful to be involved to this day and that''s not going to change,' she added.

Winfrey surprised the audience by uncovering a massive gift box that was opened to reveal a silhouette of the all-new Volkswagen Beetle, a car that has not been revealed anywhere else in the world.

"The Beetles are coming!" Winfrey screamed, as her helpers streamed from behind the scenes, carrying boxes containing a set of mock car keys for each of the 275 audience members, reports the Sydney Morning Herald.

But the lucky new VW owners will have to wait some time to get behind the wheel of their new cars, as the all-new 2012 Volkswagen Beetle has not even been unveiled yet.

The audience members are likely to receive their new cars by the end of next year.

Charlie Sheen has sued his New York hotel room girl Capri Anderson, claiming the porn star attempted to extort 1 million dollars from him.

Sheen filed the suit in LA County Superior Court, reports News.com.au.

It stated that Capri allegedly threatened "to embarrass him and attempt to damage his career by going to the media with her false tale" if she did not receive at least "one million dollars," TMZ reported.

The suit said that Sheen did not "assault, batter or threaten [Anderson]" and she was not held against her will.

It also claimed that the porn star stole a 165,000-dollar Patek Philippe watch from Sheen.

In her first two interviews since the incident on Good Morning America and Nightline, she said the actor was violent and abusive.

She explained how she was hired to escort Sheen to dinner -- but the encounter escalated to violence at the hotel.

According to various media reports Sheen allegedly flipped out, accusing Anderson of stealing his wallet before she locked herself in the hotel bathroom fearing for her life.
