After the release of Leader in February 2010, Sekhar Kammula has taken a while to work on his next film Life Is Beautiful.
Like his earlier films, Happy Days and Leader, Sekhar has cast rank newcomers in his new film currently under production.
A huge talent hunt was organised on Vodafone and Radio Mirchi to scout for actors. Out of about 50,000-60,000 applications the following actors were chosen: Abhijeet, Kavya, Kaushik, Naveen, Rashmi, Sanjeev, Shagun, Sriram, Sudhakar, Vijay and Zara.
If Happy Days was about life in a college, Life Is Beautiful is set in a colony.
It is the coming of age story of six youngsters set in the 'beautiful world' of a working class neighbourhood.
It traces the journey of the youngsters through different seasons, festivals, romances, street cricket, colony fights and family gatherings.
With adulthood and its responsibilities looming, their dreams and aspirations bring them together.
The film is a story about beginnings. It's a celebration of life and its smaller joys.
"Life Is Beautiful is about innocence, confusion and unforgettable times. Happy Days was set in college. Life Is Beautiful is happy days in a colony. A huge colony set has been put up by the National Award winning art director Thota Tarani. It has taken a lot of effort to erect this set," says Sekhar Kammula.
While Chandrasekhar Kammula and Sekhar Kammula produce Life Is Beautiful under their home banner Amigos Creations, Bandi Ratna Kumar is the executive producer. Sekhar Kammula is also the auteur director of the film.
Sekhar's usual team of Vijay C Kumar (cinematography), Marthand K Venkatesh (editing) and Mickey J Meyer (music) are with him this time too.
