With Mardaani up for release, we look back at how married heroines have fared at the box office.
Rani Mukerji will be seen in her first release after marriage, in Mardaani.
We will know how the film fares, when it releases on August 22.
Until then, here's a look at how heroines, fresh after marriage, have fared at the box office earlier.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
Aishwarya Rai got married to Abhishek in a grand way in 2007.
Her film Jodha Akbar released the next year, and her on-screen pairing with Hrithik Roshan was much appreciated. Directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, the film started slow but went on to consolidate its place well.
Box office collections: Rs 68 crores.
Kareena Kapoor Khan, Talaash
It's pretty much been business as usual for Kareena Kapoor Khan after marriage.
The actress played a ghost in the supernatural thriller Talaash, which also starred Aamir Khan and Rani Mukerji.
The film was a hit, and just missed the Rs 100 crore club.
Box office collection: Rs 91 crores.
Lara Dutta, Chalo Dilli
Lara Dutta's first release after her wedding in 2011 was Chalo Dilli, a film that she also produced.
Made at a moderate cost, Chalo Dilli was a road film, also starring Vinay Pathak.
Box office collections: Rs 11 crores.
Madhuri Dixit Nene, Pukar
Madhuri Dixit had almost completed Pukar before she tied the knot. The film released in 2000, a few months after she got married to Dr Sriram Nene.
In a role with grey shades, Madhuri managed to impress though it was her co-star Anil Kapoor who walked away with the National award.
The film was a slow starter at the box office and went on to be an average runner.
Box office collections: Rs 11 crores.
Juhi Chawla, Duplicate
Juhi Chawla got married to Jai Mehta in secrecy, in a registered marriage, and there are conflicting reports about her wedding date.
When the news did come out on 1998, her next major release was Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Duplicate. It was directed by Mahesh Bhatt, who had directed her in Hum Hain Raahi Pyaar Ke earlier.
Duplicate was a flop.
Box office collections: Rs 7 crores.
Karisma Kapoor, Dangerous Ishhq
Karisma Kapoor got married at the peak of her career in 2003, and quit films.
Her much delayed film Mere Jeevan Saathi release after her wedding, and bombed.
Almost a decade later, she planned a comeback with Dangerous Ishq but the supernatural drama was another box office disaster.
Box office collections: Rs 6 crores.
Vidya Balan, Ghanchakkar
Vidya Balan has successfully shouldered many movies, but her first film after marriage -- Ghanchakkar -- was a letdown.
Playing a nagging housewife to Emraan Hashmi's character in the film, Vidya tried her best -- she even promoted the film in character -- but it didn't help.
Box office collections: Rs 38 crores.
Chitrangda Singh, Hazaaron Khwaishen Aisi
Chitrangda Singh was married years before she made her acting debut in Sudhir Mishra's 2003 film Hazaaron Khwaishen Aisi.
Though it has become a classic today, the film was a major disaster when it releases.
Box office collections: Rs 10 lakhs.
Kajol, Dil Kya Kare
Kajol's first release after her wedding in 1999 was opposite her real life husband Ajay Devgn. Ironically, she played the 'other woman' in Dil Kya Karen.
Directed by Prakash Jha, the film didn't score score much and just about managed to cover its costs.
Box office collections: Rs 4 crores.
Raveena Tandon, Aan: Men at Work
Raveena Tandon did quite a few movies after her marriage -- like Yeh Lamhe Judaai Ke and Police Force: An Inside Story -- but they didn't do well.
Even her first release after her wedding, Aan: Men at Work, which saw her in a negative role, was a box office flop.
Box office collections: Rs 12 crores.
