Bollywood condemns Salman Rushdie ban

As Rajasthan government persuaded the organizers of Jaipur Literary Festival to ask Salman Rushdie to call off his visit, stars condemned the ban on Twitter.

Celina Jaitly retweeted Pritish Nandy's tweet who wrote: 'Rushdie should be included in our text books so that the next generation of politicians know what should not be banned.'

Author and socialite Shobhaa De isn't too happy either. 'We did it again! Succumbed to pressure. Salman R should turn up regardless. As a visitor to the Lit Fest, not a speaker. That would show 'em!' she updated.

Singer Sona Mohapatra tweeted: 'Salman Rushdie asked to stay away from the Jaipur Literature Festival ?! What kind of a wimpy govt is this ? What kind of democracy ??.. & what a blow to an already drab cultural landscape !! SAD.'

Photographer Atul Kasbekar wrote: 'So what kind of dweeb nicks someone's water bottle from the gym? Same dip that doesn't allow #Rushdie to the #LitFest? #SameGuys'

Bollywood actors who were present in full attendance at the party hosted by socialite Parmeshwar Godrej to welcome Oprah Winfrey tweeted their experience. 

Neha Dhupia shared a picture as she tweeted: 'Was an honor to meet @Oprah at a wonderful dinner hosted by the #godrej family. The best of mumbai welcomed her. She is truly wonderful!' 

Madhur Bhandarkar shared a picture of him with Oprah as he wrote: 'Met #Oprahwinfrey an awesome woman,spent an unforgettable magical evening in her presence !' 

Anupam Kher also shared his picture as he tweeted 'It was really fascinating to see EVERY so called celebrity(including me) desperate to take a pic with Queen Oprah.:)'

Sameera Reddy wrote: 'My god! Oprah Winfrey is the warmest most down to earth person I have ever met! What a personality! I'm thrilled!'

She also visited Amitabh Bachchan's residence. 'The gracious Oprah Winfrey visits our home, to meet us and bless the baby..warm hearted, endearing .. drive her to party in her honor,' Amitabh updated.

Shobhaa De wrote: 'Oprah conquers Mumbai! SRK tells her she is the biggest star in India. Country's A-list queues up for pics with sari-clad celeb.O is WOW!'

As Preity Zinta made her way to home from Oprah Winfrey's party last night; her car was hounded by paparazzi.

'Would have been a perfect evening until the press jumped all over the car n nearly got some1 killed n my car damaged n scratched.. Bachaao!' she tweeted.

The confrontation between media and Zinta resulted in a few dents and scrathches on her car. 'Broken side mirrors, dents n sctatches on the car. Who 2 blame n who 2 catch? Ofcourse if some1 frm press got hurt it would b breaking news!' she added.

Ali Zafar who turned composer with London Paris New York injured his hand while filming a fight sequence for Chashme Baddoor. 'Injured my hand during Chashme Baddoor climax fight sequence. No sketching for a few days,' he updated.

Bipasha Basu took a rickshaw to go to the gym. 'Rickshaw rides r fun! Driver hs nt turned up as v r shooting al nights rt till 5 am! So m going 2 gym in a rick after long! Remembering my modelling days:)' she tweeted.

Raveena Tandon who is hosting chat show Issi Ka Naam Zindagi feels anchoring and hosting isn't easy.
