'I can't believe I'm playing Anandi in Balika Vadhu!'

Toral Rasputra will step into Pratyusha Banerjee's shoes as Anandi on Colors' popular television show Balika Vadhu.

Toral made her television debut with Dhoom Machao Dhoom, a popular serial among children, followed by Kesariya Balam and Chhoti Si Zindagi.

Later, she took a break to get married last November.

"I can't believe my luck for having landed the role of Anandi in Balika Vadhu!" Toral gushes. "When I went for the screen test a few days ago, I did not know which role I was there for. I got to know about it on the day they announced that Pratyusha was quitting the show."

'I am excited, nervous and anxious'

Toral claims she was always 'in love' with the show and character.

"I am excited, nervous and anxious as well," she says. "I have followed Balika Vadhu since it started four years ago. I always wanted to play Anandi, from the time Pratyusha took over as the adult Anandi. I have seen the transition that the character undergoes. Both actors, who played Anandi before, did justice to the role and made it look real.

"I am sure some woman in every part of the country relates to the character!" she exclaims.

'The focus will be on Anandi and Shiv's married life'

Has she done any homework for the role? "Anandi is not new to me, as I have been following the show. I will be myself, follow the director's instructions and go with the flow," she says.

But will the audiences accept her easily, especially since they're so used to Pratyusha? "Yes, it's a huge responsibility and expectations are high. But I don't want to think about that. I have decided to focus on my work and give my best," she says.

"The focus will be on Anandi and Shiv's married life. When Pratyusha took over, she was presenting the character in a new light. I will also present a new aspect of her character and try my best to fit into the role," she adds.
