Actor Raj Kiran, who is well-known for playing the incarnation of Rishi Kapoor's character in Subhash Ghai's Karz is alive. The actor was assumed dead after a decade of missing in action. But the search by his co-star Deepti Naval and Rishi led them to find the actor in an mental asylum in Atlanta. Dumped by his family, Kiran has been left to fend for himself. He has acted in more than 100 films.

While actors like Mithun Chakraborty and Shah Rukh Khan have already made their support public, Shabana Azmi found the news very distressing.

'The news on Raj Kiran found in mental asylum in Atlanta is distressing. He was so wonderful in ARTH. I hope he is nursed back to health soon,' she tweeted.

Filmmaker Ken Ghosh, on the other hand, was saddened by his story. 'What happened to Raj Kiran reminds me that for every success story in the film industry there are a million sad stories,' he tweeted.
