Sanjay Gupta's production Acid Factory saw a grand curtain raiser on July 20 in Mumbai. It was well attended by members of the cast, including the gorgeous Dia Mirza, wearing a sexy black dress.
The film stars an ensemble cast of Fardeen Khan, Irrfan Khan, Aftab Shivdasani, Dino Morea, Manoj Bajpai, Danny Denzongpa and Dia Mirza.
The actors shared their experience of working in the film. "It was difficult to get the balance right between the two shades of my character," Fardeen said.
"Suparn [Verma, director] narrated the script to me saying that I had to do some action, hold guns, fire with them from racing cars and flirt with Dia. I was on board immediately," Irrfan grinned.
This is the first full-on action film that Irrfan has worked in. "Tinu Verma got me do some of the scariest action sequences," he said. "I remember him saying that if we did such action scenes again, he would get a heart attack. The scariest scene was hanging out of a moving car and shooting."
"After 35 days in Hyderabad, Manoj and I bonded very well," Dino said. "He taught me some abusive words and would call me Italy ke tithli."
At the event, Gulshan Grover was upset with the organisers, as they had missed out his name in the film's promos and publicity material. Sanjay Gupta tackled the situation by calling him the surprise element of the film. Interestingly, his role was to be played by Suniel Shetty.
Before this, Suparn had directed the Fardeen Khan-Koena Mitra starrer Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena.
Acid Factory is about a bunch of people, who are brought together due to strange circumstances and how they have to deal with each other in the situation they find themselves in.
"Just like Yash Chopra makes his actresses look stunning, I knew I would be made to look good in this film. I think I look pretty smart," Manoj Bajpai claims.
"I gave my speakers to Fardeen, who threw them out of the window because I didn't come for a party," Aftab said, talking about his friendship with the actor. "But he made up by buying me a new one."
All the actors claim to have bonded with each other big time on the sets of the film.
"I am happy that I was the only girl on the sets," Dia says. "I enjoyed it, as I was pampered and also treated like one of the boys. Once, I was fired at and I was close to crying."
All the actors, including Dia, will do some jaw-dropping action sequences. "I have a scene in a car on the winding roads of Cape Town, with Danny saab beside me, Fardeen and Dino behind. I was to drive really fast. Fardeen had warned me about the dangerous curves on the road, as he had driven on those roads before. But Tinu had motivated me so much that I got carried away. I was driving really fast and Danny saab was holding on to me, asking me to slow down. He used his left leg to push the brake. Fardeen from yelling from behind. Inspite of all this what made this film really special for me was that the boys took great care of me," she added.
